This was my bible for a week staying at Hawkshead and touring Lake District with partner and a couple of 11-year-old girls (daughter and her schoolfriend). Had it in my hand for most of the week and stuffed down by the driver's seat when it wasn't. Gives you a starting point on everything. My only suggestion would be more detailed road maps as I didn't buy a tourist map and sat nav is not much good for these things (poor signal on forested roads, no recognition of historical sites). Anyhow, buy it and double your interest/fun.
