No mention of wildlife or National parks anywhere!!??
Its a book for those that want to be led to backpacker hot spots and assume the Burmese 'look' Its in the bin for charity shop!
A readable and interesting guide
This 416-page book - the 2nd (printed) edition of November 2017 - is an interesting and readable (the two are not always found together) guide to the south-east Asian country of Myanmar (formerly known as Burma).
Unlike many guides, this is not a glossy booklet dotted with colourful photographs to make it look superficially attractive, but a (literally) rough guide in terms of comparative paper finishes, but well-designed and presented, with readable text, useful maps, and (well-chosen) photographs only where space allowed. The excellent design and layout means that you don’t need unnecessary spot illustrations to break up column after column of small-printed data.
The Contents are -
P004: Introduction (Where to go, when to go, what to see, etc.)
P022: Basics (travel, transport, accommodation, eating & drinking, health, culture & etiquette, and other important stuff for visitors)
The Guide:
P054: Yangoon and around
P08: The Delta and western Myanmar
P138: Southeastern Myanmar
P198: Bagan and central Myanmar
P234: Inle Lake and the east
P276: Mandalay and around
P310: Northern Myanmar
P357: Contexts: (articles on history, peoples, religion, architecture, etc.)
P396: Language
P401: Glossary
P403: Index
